brazilians • body

  • Gently exfoliate 2-3 times the week before your appointment, and moisturize daily. Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated for a less painful wax. Avoid caffeine before your appointment.

  • At least a 1/4 inch long, like a grain of rice. If you shaved, 3 weeks of growth is best. If hair is longer its best to come as is so you don’t trim too short for the wax.

  • Most clients come in expecting the worst and are always pleasantly surprised at how tolerable it is. Your first wax will always hurt the most since the hair bulb is at its thickest. Each consecutive monthly “touch up” wax will hurt less and less since we’re cutting the blood supply that feeds and grows the bulb. The bulb will get thinner over time, therefore less painful to wax.

  • It’s best to avoid caffeine before your appointment because the jitters will turn into heightened sensitivity to the wax. As well as being hungover, stressed, fatigued, or dehydrated. Hydrated skin will help the hair glide out easier and hurt much less, so drink plenty of water 1-3 days before. You can take an ibuprofen/Tylenol at least 30 minutes before your appointment to take the edge off and reduce inflammation/reaction to the skin. Numbing cream can be used but a good one will take 3 times longer than the wax to kick in so it’s not worth the bother, we will be done faster than you think!

  • Absolutely, it is more common than you think. You can come in with a fresh tampon and you can freshen up with a wipe that is provided with each Brazilian service. Very few are more sensitive to pain during or right before the cycle but it’s best to stick with your scheduled wax so you don’t experience more pain from growing it out longer. First time Brazilians are best to wait after cycle is done.

  • Yes. The service goes by very quickly so you wont have to be on your back for too long. Any products containing salicylic acid will be avoided. Bruising is more common in bikini area from extra blood while pregnant, so extra prep will be done to prevent.

  • You will notice by the second and especially third consecutive wax that your hairs come back finer and more sparse. The pain is far less and more tolerable. Your skin is left smooth and hairless for around 2 weeks till you get new soft growth, unlike shaving where the stubble comes out thick by the next day or so.

  • Exfoliate 2-3 times a week or daily with a gentle loofah and ALWAYS moisturize after. Fur oil is usually recommended since it’s the best at preventing ingrowns by keeping the pore clear with its antibacterial essential oils, and skin and hair conditioned so the hair comes out like butter. If skin or hair is dry and not exfoliated it can get stuck underneath skin and cause itchiness and bumps. Regular exfoliation and moisturizing will yield the smoothest and cleanest waxing results without hairs left behind.

  • Both high quality soft and hard waxes are available depending on the area and hair thickness. Our technique and expert skin preparation make either wax feel less painful and make the service as efficient as possible.

  • Yes, we never double dip the sticks into the wax pot for either face or body services to prevent any cross contamination. The wax is never set that hot to kill bacteria, or it would burn the skin, so double dipping should never be done.

  • Avoid hot showers, jacuzzis, sauna, intercourse, and working out for 24 hours to prevent bacteria entering freshly waxed pores. If one of these cannot be avoided ask for suggestions at your appointment. Avoid any exfoliation for a few days, but you can still moisturize with Fur oil right after.

brows • face

  • It’s best to come in with at least 4-8 weeks of growth to see what the best possible shaping will be. No need to grow them out past 4 months as that is as much hair that will grow by then.

  • Come in every 3-4 weeks without tweezing in between wax appointments. Doing so will allow all the hairs to be cleaned at the next visit and will make your next wax last cleaner for longer. Tweezing as the hairs come back is counterintuitive to getting the hairs all on the same cycle.

  • If you are using any type of vitamin A (Retin-A, Retinol, Tretinoin) you shouldn’t wax, even if you only apply it to one area of the face, it is absorbed by the bloodstream and affects the whole face and can cause lifting. If you still want to wax, stop using it for 5-7 days before your wax and let us know so we can use more oil to protect the skin. If on antibiotics, any acne or anti aging medication (Clyndamycin, Differin, etc), had a chemical peel, recent sunburn, please wait at least 1 week after to wax. Anyone on Accutane must wait 6 months after finishing treatment to wax, and again let us know before we wax.

  • Usually sparse thin brows or brows with missing areas need shaping the most. Getting rid of rogue hairs and fine fuzz around the shape makes the brow look fuller. It also makes it easier to fill in with makeup, which we can also assist with.

  • Not at all. Proper waxing technique and preparation with oil will prevent any pulling of the skin. It is an old wive’s tale that waxing causes skin to sag. Waxing techniques and products have come a long way. The slight exfoliation from waxing helps build collagen and waxing services are much faster than tweezing or threading where the skin has to be pulled taught for much longer.

  • No, the shaping is determined by the artist not the method used. Our technique gives us total control of the wax and exactly which hairs will stay and which will go. We will show you exactly what we plan to take off during the consultation before we start waxing.

  • Another old wive’s tale. Only a change in hormones which usually comes with age will cause more hair to grow in certain areas, and in some cases less hair in some areas. Consistent waxing will help weaken the follicle and slow growth.

  • It’s best to start with a brow design so we can take a good look at your shape and growth. I can suggest lamination or tinting for your next visit if needed.

tinting

  • Traditional tint dyes the hair and may stain the skin for a day or so and lasts about a month or till it grows out. Best for light to medium hair. Hybrid tint dyes the hairs like traditional tint and stains the skin for 1-2.5 weeks depending on care and skin type. Best for darker hair or anyone wanting to have a makeup filled in look. The bolder the stain, the longer it lasts. If you still don’t know which would be best, book either one and we can consult at your appointment.

  • Keep the stain as dry as possible at all times. It’s ok to wet with water but do not cleanse the brows directly with soap. Avoid any exfoliating or moisturizing products directly on brow skin stain.

  • Yes! We can select the perfect shade of brown and customize cool and warm tones and color saturation for a more natural or bold look.

lamination • lash lift

  • It is a chemical process to change the direction the hair usually lays and allow to be styled and brushed in any direction. This will help certain brows look fuller or cover gaps by using the length of the hair to reshape the brow.

  • 6-8 weeks. You can come in between your lamination appointments for a brow wax at 3-4 weeks.

  • Yes, every night. Just like any chemical hair process, like bleaching your hair, you would want to condition your hair regularly to keep hair soft and conditioned.

  • It is a permanent lash curl by chemical process that lasts 6-8 weeks. Different curl types can be achieved from a dramatic and lifted L shape curl to a soft C shaped curl, depending on current length of lashes.

  • You must avoid water, steam, sweat and makeup for 24hrs after the service. Wash your hair before your appointment so you won’t have to after. Come in with clean, makeup-free brows/lashes. If you recently overtrimmed your brows please wait till they grow out for best results.

  • Avoid tinting and lamination till you’re done breastfeeding, since these chemicals are applied directly to the skin. Waxing can still be done but products with salicylic acid will be avoided, so please let us know before we start the service.
